Windows VPS FAQ

A virtual private server (VPS) is a virtual machine sold as a service by an Internet hosting service. A VPS runs its own copy of an operating system, and customers have superuser-level access to that operating system instance, so they can install almost any software that runs on that OS. For many purposes they are functionally equivalent to a dedicated physical server, and being software-defined, are able to be much more easily created and configured. They are priced much lower than an equivalent physical server, but as they share the underlying physical hardware with other VPSs, performance may be lower, and may depend on the workload of other instances on the same hardware node.

Windows VPS must be installed manually by iHost VPS staff. The complete process will take about 40 minutes to 1 hour. This process must be done manually because of how sensitive windows operating system can be. These VPS are KVM VPS so they require special RedHat drivers to funcion at it's peak. While you can perform your own installs in iHost VPS control panel you cannot perform a Windows Install that will function 100% For a reinstall, please Submit a Ticket

While Windows VPS and Virtual Desktop works in the same way, the difference between them is that our Virtual Desktop (VPS) are more secured and isolated from Windows VPS Hosting. Virtual Desktops are on 24/7 and are never interupted. Support is available 24 / 7 to help aid all clients in every situation. Remote Desktop VPS is also another way to refer to a Virtual Desktop as they are accessed via Remote Desktop Protocol
